Prepare these records first
Carry originals for verification and a clearly arranged photocopy set. Do not hand over original documents without understanding the acknowledgement and return process.
Personal records
- Government photo identity
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Residence or address proof
- Student and parent contact details
- Medical fitness certificate when required
Domicile and category
- Domicile certificate when applicable
- Caste or category certificate
- Income certificate for applicable schemes
- EWS or other current category evidence
- Gap affidavit or certificate when applicable
Course-specific records
- Application or registration confirmation
- Counselling or allotment letter
- Entrance result when applicable

Before leaving home
Check names, dates and legibility
- Make sure the student name and date of birth are consistent across records.
- Check that category and income documents are current for the applicable process.
- Keep scans in a secure folder, but do not share identity documents with unofficial contacts.
- Write the selected institution and course name exactly as used in current admission records.
- Ask which originals will be retained, for how long and what receipt will be issued.
